Another Solar Update

New life for garage door window panels

I happened to be at the trash transfer station on a Saturday morning and the employee was whining he couldn't take the garage doors because of their size.
The guy with the doors was very glad to deliver them free of charge, say thank you and offer more! At the time, I had no idea what to do with them until I bought 5 pounds of chipped, broken cells. Each panel holds 15 3"x6" cells. I used silicon caulk to seal the edges put another strip down the middle of the cells to stabilize them. I'm leaving the seal breaks in the 2 corners to see if moisture will accumulate and if it does, I'll fill the inside with CO2 and seal. CO2? because it was also free.

I have 6 panels and all of them have different dimensions of glass. Make sure the 2 pieces of glass you want to use in each panel fit before you assemble the cells into the panel.

Those are nice looking cells, I been looking for this posting since you gave me that link.

Nice work!

How would the glass doors be from those cold cases like the store uses for cold sodas milk ect. Far too heavy I suppose. I know where some cases are with good glass, not sure if they are junk or working still though.
.
nothing to lose

Spelin and tpying are my strong points, not electronics.
