stator questions

new stator has 'islands'

I poured this stator yesterday. It seems all of the stators I pour have the same problem. They develop 'islands'where the mold does not touch the resin. I put about 60 lbs on them and I get about a half cup resin coming out both sides. I put a straight edge across it and it is straight except for the areas with not enough resin. Possiblt an air pocket??

The coils and the fiberglass cloth are completely covered. So I guess there's no real problem except they look shabby. How can I correct this?

Seems like trapped air. Try vibrating the mould before the final squeeze. Hugh's idea of an sds drill seems a good one.

Regarding the previous post, I like your bale counter, neat idea.

After I pour my mould I carefully ( i do mean very carefully) shake the mold a bit, then I use a needle and pop out all the air pockets before I put the top on, seems to correct the problem. I use a more transparent type resin though that allows me to see right through durring the entire process. You could use maybe a vibrating sander, never thought of that one!
