Bugger, I wasn't expecting that article to come out for a few weeks. I better get my act together and update the web site. Silicon Chip asked me to write a series of articles, the next one is starting on the construction of a windmill based on the F&P Smartdrive. See Photo. I kept the articles pretty simple, hope to get more people interested in this alternative energy obsession we all share. I went for the Smartdrive as they are very common here in Oz and easier to turn into a wind generator than the brake disk type windmills or induction conversions.

Gee, I had one of those but traded it to some Jerry guy on here ;=]. Wish I had kept it now.
Cheers.

I'm hoping the 8 fter will do it. I got some crazy idea about laminating some thin panneling with some expanded foam as a filler. Kinda like a peanutbutter sanwich. But with real thin bread and real thic peanut butter? And I'll give the hole thing a twist. We think what we want around here till they relize the meds have worn off. At the home that is?

Definitely, a deal is a deal. Im happy with the exchange. I was just figuring i would get a rise out of you!
That's a right purty picture. I'm glad too that you had the chance to promote 'our obsession' and get a little spotlight yourself at the same time!
I just wish the F&P (and the GE equivilent) were a little more prevalent here in the states. It's funny; we're shopping for a gas clothes dryer (gas is a whole lot cheaper here per heating unit than electric, and more efficient eco-wise to boot) and saw both varieties on display. I'm guestimating from memory, but I think the GE and F&P washers and dryers ask about a 30-40% premium here. A hard sell to the pragmatic pocketbook holder.
I sure wish I could get my grubby paws on one o' them there motors, though.
