RE: Flat round Coils vs Neo Dia

Hi

If I am using 3/4" round neo's and winding flat coils what should be my inside dia of my copper coils. I thought the smaller the hole the better because it inducing more flux as the neo magnetics pass by. But today I saw that the inside dia should be the size of the dia of the neos'. so which one is right?

Thks
Wayne

Wayne, if both legs (sides) of the same coil are over a magnet at the same time, the voltages induced into the two legs are cancelling. Not good.

Hello, new to this board, but your reply is exactly what I was looking for. To add tot he original question, is it more advantagous to use square, triangle, or circular coil patterns? Analysis of the typical field lines of Neo magnets (http://www.wondermagnet.com/ferro.html) (http://www.dansdata.com/images/magnets/tubeend440.jpg) shows that they are concentrated in a spherical pattern. Thus round seems like the ideal/

Thanks in advance,
Jay
