your system could also easily be used as a power system when swimming season is over

 Hi coolluke,

l tried to post the first three lines paragraph comment but the system turned down my attemps saying that my comments  was over 50 words. l had only 43 words, so l though to do it this way them.

You did very neat Job. l was thinking doing also a heated floor system when l will build my cabin and l thought about using rubber hose for its flexibility. Have you thought making a heating system with when swimming season is over?

How far do you live from Vernon? l find it hard to beleive that there is that much snow near Vernon though l know that Vernon is not too far from the mountains. l ask these questions because l baught a lot in Fintry midway between Vernon and Kelowna on westside road and l plan to build a year-round cabin. l will try to buy the lots around just to make sure that l can my  hobbying without bothering anybody. l will erect a 100'freestanding tower for 4 home made 99V Ametek motor gennies. l'm doing all the testing and preliminary work here in Montreal. You should see my garrage. l just finished 3 28' section of the tower in my garrage. The city has 400 acres ``green park`` behind pm property with a bergey wind turbine and a solar panel array on the park site to promote ecology. l had the permission to erect my tower with gennies going. My electrical system will be erected in Fentry next summer 2005 to power a portable sawmill. Richard

Hi Richard I'm not really in a position to heat the floors in my house, and I don't have a shop yet. We just bought this house last Aug. and when early Sept. rolled around I hated the idea of shutting down the pool, so this year I'm hopping to extend my season till the end of Sept. And maybe gain a couple of weeks in the spring. Mind you I'm not even sure how well this thing will work. But I'll say this, I'm having a ball designing and building it. Fintry is a beautiful area I have friends that live down that way. I'm in Revelstoke, it's about 2 hours north of where your going to build your cabin, it's amazing how much more snow we get here, compared to the Okanogan. I was in Vernon 3 days ago and there was 3 inches of snow on the ground, up here I'm walking on 4 ft. of snow in my back yard. So far this year we've received over 100 inches of snow and we still have a month and a half of winter to go. So are you going to get all your power from the wind, or will you also have electricity coming off the grid? CL. www3.telus.net/teeoff/solar

I built a solar pool heater last year.
Here it is . . .

That's a very simple system, Guess it just goes to show how little you need to harness the sun. I live on the west coast of Canada I wish we had weather like you have. With my eight foot sq. box I'm hopping to get over 500 ft. of one inch poly pipe inside" I would like to see 700 ft". Plus with the box being covered with glass I think that should bring up the overall efficiency of the system. Also I'm starting to rethink my plan to use a separate pump; I may try hooking it up to the main filter system. BTW my wife is from S.C.

You want to use about 600 feet of pipe. Don't put all you pipe in one continous length. it would be better to devide that into 3 lengths of 200 feet in parallel, or even 6 lengths of 100 feet. This will greatly reduce the bacpressure that the pump will see and increase the dwell time inside of the pipe where the water is inside of the heater.

Here are some tables that will help you predict the Back Head Pressure that will be added to the pump you use.

Coolluke,

l love Revelstoke. Can we imagine the Rockies without snow? l drove through the Rockies on a weekly basis for 15 years in the 70's and 80's and l cannot remember even once an inner complain. l remember that l got caught quite few times by a snow storm and forced to stop at Rogers Pass on my motocycle in may or early june. l was in Kitimat in 1981, they had a storm of 58 inches. Halifax had 40 inches this past weekend. l got in a storm of 20 inches June 12 1983. l'm so anxious to leave Montreal for the Okanagan.

Coolluke

l think that l will go with wind and passive radiant solar heating. l salvaged one of the 500 Quebec Hydro freestanding that colapsed during the freezing ice/rain we had 1998. lt has 75', and l will add 4 25'  8'' tilting pipes for 4 99V Ametek PMTDM Gennies up, and if it not enough l will use a Tercel engine to run alternators to charge my 2400 amps battery bank that l got from a federal prison. Take a look at my postings.

Best regards,

Richard
