x

recently we have had to edit some stories and remove some comments do to foul language. seems to be getting allot worse the last few weeks. I just want to let everyone know that if you make a comment containing that type of language you will not be getting the point you wanted to make across because your comment will be removed.

keep it clean, keep it civil, and we all can have fun.

thankyou

Kurt;

I was thinking the same thing.

I cuss like a sailor in a bar in person with adults but feel it has no place here where children may be researching a school project.

On a side note it reminds me of George Carlin wanting to see a list of these words.

Let the censorship complaints begin.

Cheers.

I'm new to this site this week but i am happy to see it being polieced, there is excess profanity without justification everywhere now days and it is good to see someone who cares.  I'm 66 years old and the only time I ever revert to the use of such is when I get nailed with 100 volts or so and then it is just S.O.B. at which time my wife comes to see if everything is alright.

Good day

I would not think of something like complaining... I only have thanks to the ones behind (and around) all this...

In my opinion it has been OK all the time.
I'm seeing that some people's language
is more polished than others', but
as English isn't my mother language
I can't understand all the niceties.

In my opinion the important thing
is not to go too far in 'polishing'.

The reason you don't see them is they get hidden when we find them. We are not talking about poor language skills we are talking about foul language we find unacceptable in the forum. Nothing to do with opinions and ideas. It varies widely from culture to culture and a phrase in your country may be acceptable but in ours it may not. We do not allow racial or ethnic slurs either, altho they are few and far between.

The only content editing that gets done is fixing spelling errors , fixing photos and links and just recently foul language removal.

Frankly I only speak one language, English, so anyone who has multiple language skills and can make themselves understood in them all is far ahead of me in communication skills.

We have and do work hard to try and keep this place an informative, friendly and useful resource and I think we have done quite well. We had a few skirmishes along the way but the community has survived as a viable entity and the troublemaker[s] have moved on to other victims so we can carry on with our mission of getting information out to as many people as we can.

Cheers.

Tom, that is a great mission indeed. I truely wonder how many mills have been built becouse of the Dan's and many others inputs and experiments. Probably hundreds and counting! I truely admire the people here that are moving to the cutting edge and moving the edge farther. But I also respect the newbies that get a working mill up for the first time! The first time you see a genny flying making power (bought or homebrew) you are hooked. I woud hate bad language to interfere with this board and the fun things happening here Gary D.

Dude,

Cop an attitude.  I'll back you up.  It is what seperates those who are trying from those who wanna be.

Have a nice day!

So would a MAD-magazine style "@&#%!!" be acceptable? ;-)

Guys I have to say that I have been unaware of any problem with inappropriate language, wither that is due to my not reading the offending posts or their being caught before they become common knowledge I can't say, but I have no complaints.
I myself have been known on occasion to curse a blue streak, but this is not the place for it. I must say that on the whole every one I have come into contact with here has been a gentleman ( or gentlewoman). All I can say is that I recommend this site to a lot of people and that I have had a uniformly positive experience here.

I'm totally supportive of the board and it's management, and Tom's often thankless work behind the scenes to keep all those electrons politely humming along.

As an aside, it would be fun to do an approximate running total of the watts of gennie capacity that have been produced as a direct or indirect result of this board.  Wonder when we'll hit our first megawatt of installed homebrew wind/alt power??? I should have my 3kw cogen plant functional by the end of summer.  How 'bout it boys and girls, let's get a tally going.

Best regards,

troy
