I think you might want to search this site. I have seen a lot of things useing motors.
Someone else might chime in to get the ideas going.

Hi solarson

Well I posted back to your 80 rpm post now that post has been removed?

That kinda anoiying to take the time to respond only to have it removed?

And then I responded to this post and it said I used to many words and my post failed.

I'm only going to try this one more time. I don't have that much time to waist.

Its not you its these %^&**(&%#$$T puters.

AH its a 4 pole. Defenetly use NEOs. To bad the curved NEOs are no longer available?

Do these motors have 4 slots and 4 coils or 36 slots?

The 4 slot type will have real bad cogging. The 36 slot will only have a small cogging affect.

With the right blade, magnets, coil reasignments, armature and wind you could expect to see a top output of around 300 to 500 watts from these motors each.

You could see some small charging start at 5 mph?

At this point the bar NEO magnets may be your best bet. I did a post about the benifits of the solid steel armature VS the stock armature.

I'm thinking of trying Hickers idea of washer but square washers? Don't know were to find them may have to make them?

Are you going for 12 volt use? If so coil reasignment will work best. Using the start windings adds significant power also.

i have a simualer motor --was thinking about how to mount the mags--stack your whashers then mount them in a vice and take a hacksaw to one side at a time..
result--stack of square whashers..:}

Hello.  The best motor to use for a gen-alt I have found is the celing fans.
1.. They have bearings that let them spin easly.
2.. They have built in blades, you could build your own blades but not nessary.
3.. The idea Hiker has on his Minnie Mill can be used, very easy to use ROUND FENDER WASHERS,and all thread.I pull the washers up tight together with two jam nuts, leave the nuts on and drill a 1/8 hole, as close as you can to the washers. Then clamp the washers together and then pin them on with a roll pin.I use the original coils with no changes to them.If the motor has 9 coils I use 6 neo magnets.
Most of the motors have a 3" inside hole where the old armature went.If you use 1/2 inch all thread and 1/2 inch fender washers, thats comes out to about 2 inches diameter. That gives you plenty of room to add magnets,1/2 inch per side.Just add or subtract the amount of neos you need.I used the wonderMagnet ones 1"x 1/2"x 1/8"...
You can stack three on top each other, and Epoxy glue them .
With what little wind I have,my genny puts out 13.5 volt & 300 mill volts.
As soon as I find another Ceiling fan Im going to build more. This this the cheap way out.              Hope this helps.

If the motor has 9 coils I use 6 neo magnets.

Hi Frankenbuger, your description of
the ceiling fan generator sounds really interesting.

Which kind of blades have you used?
Have you tried with 9 magnets for 9 coils?
Which kind of coil hooking system have you used?
Star, delta?

Do you have any pictures of your machines?

Hannu and others.   I just used the origial blades that were on the fan.The blades work just like they were attached to the fan. There is a picture in my photo up loads # photo 10.The whole thing works well because of the bearings, that cuts down on start up friction.I used 6 evenly spaced neos around the homemade rotor, and triple stacked them for a total of 18 neos. This is the design that Hiker came up with,he calls it his Minnie Mill. I just re-design mine.

About the wiring ? I dont know what you call it.....But this is how it is:
There are 2 white[common]wires and 4 "hot" wires.

I hooked two of the hot wires together and one of the commons to bridge.
I hooked the other two hots together and went to another bridge.
Then I hooked the DC pos out together and the two neg dc together. This is probly called series,I dont know.
The result is about 13.5 vdc with 3 or 4 hundred milli amps.It is slow but it is also the cheap way to harvest the wind.I found out that you can also knock out some of the bushings on other motors and put in bearings. The glue is dring on another one now. I hope this helps some, be glad to add more if you like.

Let the carpe diem out of the box.     Frankenbuger.
