I have a Ametek TDM and was wondering if they need to be weatherproofed?

I have a Ametek TDM and was wondering if they need to be weatherproofed?  Can the Tape Drive Motor be placed on the tower in the 'raw' without a blanket :-)

eformx;

So far [over a year] I have 2 flying with just paint on them no problems with water entering. I do put the wire grommet down tho to avoid water intrusion there.

Cheers.

Hi Rob

I use an aluminum tape used by the heating and airconditioning guys. Its designed to seal up metal air ducts.

Its aluminum and very shinny and the weather dosn't seem to bother it and it keeps the motor body from rusting.

I try to protect the ends also. I'll also dope up the bearings on the outside of the motor with bronz never size to help keep the watter of the bearings. I like to protected any exsposed shaft also.
