Solar powered fan, how to

I'd like to make a solar powered fan. At allelectronics.com there is a 6"x6" solar panel which outputs 9vdc. There is also a 5vdc fan. Do I need anything else besides a switch and resistor (to get the solar output down to 5vdc)?
9v sounds like an awful lot of power for a 6x6" panel. Could that be a typo?

It's probably open voltage when you put a load on it (the motor) might drop drastically the motor might be even underpowered.

Just my opinion don't quote me.

Just for fun , I purchased one of those 12 volt dashboard solar panel battery maintainers , from Harbor Freight Tools for 9.99. It outputs a bit less then the stated amps, but was able get about 180 ma from it. I then hooked it to an old PC power supply fan I had in the junque box, and it ran fine directly off of sunlight.

More of a novelty than having it do anything useful. But it will charge up small SLA's and power my boombox on the patio for the evening :-)
