updated info on auto body filler magnetic properties
I finally got word back from the chemist about the auto body filler and it is talc that is responsible for the magnetic properties.
Weren't some of you using talc in your resin mixture?

This seems unlikely as talc is a crushed mineral with no metallic properties.
If it were true than a magnet would attract talc, try it.

Ive been doing body work for over 25 years. Ive always thought bondo to be talcum powder and fiberglass resin. It dont spark when i grind it off course unless I get down to metal and it doesnt rust. Im not going to stick a neo in it to find out but im thinkin the chemist is wrong. JB

Yes, you're quite right. Let me rephrase that. There are trace minerals in the talc causing the slight magnetic attraction.

Epoxy resin is a bit pricey but worth the results
body filler is softer when it cures and does not like high temperatures or repeated temperature changes (expansion/contraction)it's great for the intended purpose"body filler" I havn't had much luck with using it for anything else..
just my point of view,,,,
