Solar Hydrogen Production

A classy little electrolyser

Part of my solar project involves switching solar power to a hydrogen electrolyser when my batteries are fully charged. I've gotten into PIC microcontrollers to handle all the sensing and switching. I just finished hooking up an electrolyser that literally vibrates with hydrogen gas bubbling out of it. This thing is going to be very productive and useful. Plans for the electrolyser are in an excellent ebook titled "Build a Solar Hydrogen Fuel Cell System" by Phillip Hurley (available at http://www.goodideacreative.com/shfc_sys.html for $16.95)

If anyone is interested in hydrogen production, Hurley's downloadable book is a very worthwhile investment.

Tom

Hi Tom, is his first book http://www.goodideacreative.com/fuel_cell.html really a necessary prerequisite?

Tom:  I am interested on everything ( one of my problems in life) but I have a good buddy that is an engineer graduated in Germany and he just went to a symposium in Germany for those systems. The guy lives in Argentina and he knows that stuff. Here is his e-mail:nicolas@navigo.com.ar.
His name is Nicolas Zuchak and you can tell him that I gave you his e-mail.
His english is slow, but he undestands ( or will ask me to translate).
I may have his presentation in PDF format, given last year in germany. I will search if you want it.
God luck, Wilson

Hi Tom in NH,

Not to put the cart in front of the horse, nor the fuel cell before the electrolyser, but please clarify...who the heck wants to download 249 pages?  Am I missing something?

Of course there are different strokes for different folks. I just wanted people to know that there is a set of plans for a darned good electrolyser that's worth looking at if you're into hydrogen production.

  Tom

Curious do you know how much energy it will take electrolys 1 gal of water into Hydrogen and oxgen?
