Grants for conference participation?

I need grants to present my solar works at a conference.

Hi All,
I am a young lecturer in the University of Dschang, Cameroon, Africa. I work on renewable energies. I designed and successfully tested an appropriate technology intermmitent absorption solar refrigeration system. I have been invited to present the results in a conference on Heat Powered Cycles in Larnaca Cyprus  October 2004  (www.hpc2004.com). Unfortunately I have not been able to get the sponsorship for the event (An air ticket + conference fees of 600 Euros).

Is there any one out there who knows some organisation that I can contact for sponsorship? My contacts (tangkajkfr@yahooo.fr) Our salary scale cannot allow us to self sponsor such events.

I tried to place the picture of the system here but could not succeed.

Count me in there is 10 Australian dollars 3rd post left of my frount gate.

 Sorry for my sceptacisum maybe something to do with the many 'e' mails I receive from "African" sons of diposed dictators wanting my bank details so they can deposit a million US dollars which currently reside in Swiss bank accounts.

Don't universities have there own web addresses? Certinally those SA unies who have some very informative reserch availabe on line do.

Julius, why does your university not fund this trip?

The idea of a "grant" is not a very popular concept where I live.

Thank you all for your contributions although some of them were very unfair. The truth is that you in the developped countries can never imagine the problems we face in the third world. I am glad somebody has put Hugh's site where we had the wonderfull training on Homebuilt wind turbines last year. As you will read on that site, I was to take the turbine to Cameroon. This could not work because the university failed to provide the funds despite the fact that Hugh was asking just for a token to cover the  materials. However I was grateful because they manage to fund my trip to Hughs course despite the budgetory constraints they had. This is not peculiar to my country. I had similar experience with my collaborators when I visited them in Israel and the Netherlands and their own university could not meet up with their travelling demands.

To associate a genuine request with  419 is absolutely unfair. Peharps you will all want to find out from the conference organisers of HPC 2004 if they recieved and edited a manuscript of my work through out the year before inviting me for the conference. I did not ask any body for money, All I asked for was suggestions on organisations that I could  contact for sponsorship of such events and I find nothing wrong with that. There is no genuine organisation that would want to sponsor somebody on an event without proper investigations.

So I will call on all to withdraw their harsh comments.

Julius Tangka;

Personally, I feel this is totally inappropriate for this forum.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Just so we dont jump to the wrong conclusions, which I have done before on the old board and others critised me (TomW - and quite rightly).

I get lots of African 419 fraud attempts, but it can be fun too have a look at www.419eater.com

Julius, just a thought... Perhaps the sponsers of this event would sponser you. Offer to build a working unit similar to what you claim to have already done, in exchange for travel expenses, lodging and such. They may take you up on the offer.... Yes Tom W. I agree that this isn't the right forum for this! And camera guy, interesting link with Julius's pic... the Dan's could know if he is legit or not, they were there too...Gary D.
