PM laminate/stator question

Could this work out?

in this picture, could you drill holes throught the metal laminate and wind the mag. wire through? I know it would be a serious chore... but after, once the coils are sprayed, you could isolate them with the resin. Im just thinking it would reduced the air gap..

also... my understanding of the word laminate would be something clear that covers and protects something else. it would seem 'resin' does that job... please clear me up.. :D TY!

to me it looks like the big metal ring would attract more magnatism... am i correct?

The word "laminate" means constructed in layers. As used here, it refers to the laminated iron core used in AC electrical equipment to concentrate and guide the magnet's flux lines.

Laminated cores can definitely reduce the air gap, but slots would be better than holes, because of the difficulty of winding the wire through holes without damaging the insulation.

In my opinion, the three-phase, dual-rotor, air-core machine offers advantages to home builders, especially those without access to a machine shop.

that was my next question;
can i spin a stator between two sets of 'rotors' (i know, the rotor would normally turn, thus the name 'rotor'; but i dont know any other name for the magnet assembly)?

or... what if you had a thick circular tube, and had the coils around it. The magnets would 'float' inside the tube, it might even self-regulate?(the magnets eventually wouldnt stay still as the tube spun tooo fast. they would pick up momentum...).

Just trying to understand the forces at play a little better.

I used to have a circut design program, are there any mag-force samplers out there (free) and how about an E-wind tunnel? :D (wishfull thinking)

                                         Thanks!

Here is a plan for a very effective and economical Gaussmeter to check the strength and direction of your magnets.

Very few parts, economical to build.

TechniTard has a prefab question. :D (3.00 / 0) (#5)

thats a little more then i can handle just right now.

I think the zig-zag section represent resistors? but i dont know what the triangles are or the "adjustment" devices are. have you got a physical picture of one?

So i was thinking about the differant cars that might be suitable instead of the one suggested. I had a flash idea:
What a about the strut/brake and motor assembly from a Prius? I belive it has its own eletric motor attached directly.... if not, would there be another possible prefab hybrid assembly?

I seriously cant wait to get started. My first machine is going to be EXACTLY as shown above, to get a good base model to learn on.

Ive been having visions of 5-point star coils passing through hexagonal mag. assemblies, and such.. lmao I think it the lack of sleep in the last 3-4 days since i found this site. :D
