Where are these giant blades going?

45 foot blades heading north

I live in Kansas City and have a friend about an hour north in St. Joseph. Every time I come back from up north I see at least one truck hauling a huge blade northward on I-35. Every time. Each blade is about fourty five feet long and the trailor hauls only one at a time. I can't think of another use for a 90 foot diameter prop except a big wind genny. Does anyone here know where things are coming from or going to? Or, how they are used? I keep forgeting to bring my digital camera with me but I'll start making a point of doing so.
TIA, John....

It might be coming here, to the Atlantic Wind Test Site, in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Are you sure they are not more like 80'  or longer. Fourty five feet would be very short by today's standard, even 80' is starting to be considered small.

My guess is that they are going to either north western Iowa or south western Minn. There are about 800 megawatts of wind farms in that area, mostly made up of 48 meter machines (~160' diameter).

There are two test sites north of Kansas City;one in Des Moines,IA and one in Lincoln,Ne.
There was construction going on at the Des Moine sight back in July when I was thru there.
Or they just could be going up to catch Interstate 80 the truckers route across country.

Thanks All, They do seem very large. Perhap 45 feet is an underestimation. They are as long, or longer, than the trailor and the trailor could be extra long. Lincoln and Des Moines are both pretty close. I may have to take a weekend to go check them out. 80 meters in diameter sounds pretty cool.
