if you are looking for a high efficiency diesel for your homebuilt genny

Then maybe you should consider one of these, over 50% efficient !

Has anyone any idea of the shipping costs of this engine to Vancouver. I think that I will just rush out to Walmart and get one. It would sure beat my Honda.

But will it run on veggie oil??  By the look of it I should have to have the waste from MacDonalds AND Burger King to keep this little baby running.  Still and all, it should run the TV, the satellite receiver and the beer cooler together!!!!!!

Big diesel engines are started with compressed air. So you probably need gadget: http://store.yahoo.com/brandsplace/0035-jmp-067.html

Wow.  If someone were to look at a cargo ship and say to me, "you know, I bet the engine for that sucker is pretty big," I'd say, "yeah, I bet."

Well, actually seeing one with guys climbing in and out of it kinda puts it in perspective. Again, wow!

BTW, the page says that at least some of the photos are from a plant in Japan.  The second to last picture was definitely taken in Korea.  Note the big signs in the background written in Hangul.  I suspect most or all of the pics were taken in S. Korea, probably in a Hyundai plant.

In Linköping is a power and district heating plant with two 18 cylinder V engines from Wärtsilä.... It uses heavy fuel oil, in Oskarshamn is one that is supposed to use propane..... Once i was at their engine factory in Åbo Finland and the multi function machine (drilling, making threads etc etc) was quite huge !!!

When electricity goes down around here they can start a big air compressor (diesel powered) and via some valves make the engine easier to turn (no compression) and then use compressed air in one of the cylinder rows to get it turning and thats it... then it goes on oil starting to make power which is feeded to the bigger power and district heating plant (80+130+60 MW boilers) making it possible to run the plant and then start up the grid (and heating) locally.....

It is a lovely "noise" standning next to one of them beasts. Unfortunately i have not heard about any of them running on biodiesel........ My production would not last long anyway i am afraid....

Good evening

wow
that thing reminds me of the engine's in the uss texas battle ship [tyed up out side of houston]
the texas had i think had 2 16 cyl engine's
mounted upside down,exposed crankshaft's.
Rod and main bearing's oiled through oil cup's at each bearing.it would take both texas engines to equal 1 of that one in displacement.
lots of engine there.
later
