Big water-pumping mill

A pic from my travels last Xmas

I've been meaning to put this up for a while.  This mill used to pump water from the Murray river to supply the town of Robinvale.  The fan is 10m/30' in diameter.  That's my lady friend standing near our two motorcycles, behind the truck.

Now you're talkin my language love those old water pumpers, grew up around those places that had them used to be amazed at the power they had..that they could lift my 80lbs.(then) up and down as I clung onto the sucker rod altho it did slow it down...
While searching for wooden windmills in Google, I ran across one that had a wood tower
like 130 ft.(Texas??)
It don't occur to many of us how important water was(still is) back in the old days of steam locomotives and large herds of thirsty cattle....and what an important part the old water pumpers played...
   Ah! Wind....wonderful stuff!
                Fun!  ( :>) Norm.
