Circuit schematics

Found a site, liked it, thought I'd share

I was googling for a couple of sample schematics (namely a car headlight reminder and a temperature-controlled fan driver), and found them here:

There seems to be a very wide selection of useful stuff for those of us who are interested in building their own gear (I hear one or two people around here are like that?) ;-)

I built a hv supply based on the dazer circuit on that site a while back.  Put it in a battery powered skeeter killer.  It's got a great variety of circuits.  Rich Hagen

a circuit for a dump load? (3.00 / 0) (#4)

Anyone knows an easy circuit for
a dump load for a wind generator
about 1 kW maximum?

Are you looking for a shunt regulator?  What is the system voltage?

Yes, I'm looking for a shunt regulator.
We needed as well a good circuit to prevent
discharging batteries too low.

At present
we are using 12 Volt systems, but in the
future also 48 volt systems and then we
would need also need big shunt regulators
up to 10 kW.

Have you or anybody else (besides Hugh himself) used the circuit as described by Hugh here:
http://www.scoraigwind.com/circuits/chargecontrol.htm

How big currents can it take in?

I couldn't say, Hannu.  I haven't actually built a regulator yet, but I think you should be able to make them as big as you like simply by connecting a big enough relay across the "shunt" connections of any circuit.  You'd want to put a diode "backwards" across the relay's coil to prevent any back EMF from harming the electronics though.
