rectifing three phase

Can someone please draw the three pase rectification methid useing the four prongs on the thirty-five amp rectifiers bought here at forcefield?

I am building Hughs twelve foot macheane. I wired it for 24 volt. His was 12 volt rated at 40 amps. I am not sure if the amps will still be that high or not now that its 24 volts. I have three wires out. I bought eight 35 amp bridge rectifiers from Force Field. Do I only need three, or do I need six in some kind of paralel hook up? I dont understand wire diagrams so could someone draw my wires out as they go to the terminals of the four terminal brige rectifers all the way to one positive wire and one negitive wire? I know it doesn't take eight. I figured I would buy some extra. Not sure if the amps are to high for three?

Hi JMK,

you will need two of the four pronged units.

hook the pluses and minuses together

your three wires will hook to the ac inputs(the squiggly lines).

when you are done there will be one unit with one empty prong if it is wired correctly.hope this helps

  This should do it...

Say it twice even!

The AC is often marked with a  " ~ ".

Boy that is to easy! I only need two. I thought I would at least need three. Thanks for the drawing Ed.

I use 3 of them actually with a 12 volt system.  Each output line of the 3 phase is paralelled to one rectifier ( both AC pins for each)  In your case I dont think you'll need to do that although you'd never have to worry about overamping them.  Use a good heat sink in any case !

Hey Ed do you sires or perelell the dc outputs of the bridges?

This is what I do in the GM alternater mods. Its diferant than star or delta.

I normally run them parallel Jerry but I may try to series some of the smaller VAWT's I've been working on as an experiment.

Fun Stuff !   How's the Monster wind tunnel comming?   Can't wait to see and hear about it!  Your going to have a lot of fun with that !   I've been testing things every day since I got it up and running.  Way to much fun!   Looking for a pitot type wind speed indicator, I may order one of the cheapies from some science sites for now.

Ed,

If you have an airfield nearby (or plane bone yard) you could maybe grab a complete Airspeed Indicator (pitot and gauge) set off a wreck. Just a thought.

No airplane boneyards nearby... I thought that might work but if I remember right they really don't start reading until your moving right along ( above 30mph ).   Some of the ultralight units kick in at around 10mph I think.  I believe the MarkII wind speed would work fine but its kind of pricey for my budget right now and I've been looking at a hand held version made by the same company for around 18 bux.   I'm not sure yet.   It's kind of awkward but I can use my handheld on a stick and get a pretty accurate reading while testing.

One of those things that I'd like to do but not a necessity right now.

Well Ed you know how easy it it to plan, dream design and all that stuff but when it comes down to puting it all together time and money seem to get in the way.

I think if I added every thing up on the want to do list, well its just a long list.

I'm thinking of useing a couple of my larger 100 lb Magnatek shunt wound 180 volt DC motors.

I'll use belts and pullies. 2 motors 4 props. I'll mount these motors on the floor.

Since its going to be a towable trailer I'll keep the weight low.

If it works and I get it done in time I may take it up to Guems Isl. next April so Hugh dosen't have to use Ians dump truck for wind testing at the end of the wind class.

I think it will work for at least an 8ft? Hope anyway. We'll just mount a mast to the ground with temporary guy wires a few ft away from the exit?
