IE vs Firefox

Have noticed several problems with the board. It seems that everything works fine under IE -internet exploiter but does not work well with Firefox web browser. I get everything from missing pages to access denied when attempting to post to any messages or even new posts. Sometimes nothing at all shows up and hitting refresh works. Whatever this incompatibility is it effects all of Firefox. Firefox was released about 2-3 years ago, many use it because of the advanced security features and anti spy-ad ware capability. However, IE seems to function fine, so the board and CGI was made for this browser for the most part. I also wonder however if this is not a limitation for linux and other such users?

Probably something about the way you have it setup Fred.  We run Firefox and Mozilla with no problems both on windows and Linux machines.  Im not enough expert to make suggestions - perhaps someone else is.  I have no problems with firefox.

Never had a problem here - Mozilla, Firefox, Konqueror in Linux and Opera, Firefox and (shutter every time I use it) IE in Winbloze.

I run Mozilla on a Linux laptop and Firefox on a Linux desktop.  I haven't seen any browser problems.  Sometimes the server appears to be overloaded and denies a connection, and there are some broken links, but those can be expected.

I have the good fortune of never having had to ues IE or Windows since making the Linux jump in 1994.

Although Avant browser uses IE, it has a great ability to stop popups and such, it is more stable and faster than IE, you can open individual sites with a click of the middle mouse button, which is great for forums, too many obtions to list, but I find it to be the best out there, and I have tried them all, or atleast close to it.

Hi Fred. We don't use internet explorer at all at our company -- it's all Firefox. Sounds like you have a cookie problem. It's usually caused by having 2 board windows open on the same computer as different users or in 2 different browsers.

Close all IE windows. Open firefox, and delete all cookies from fieldlines.com and www.fieldlines.com. Then close all browser windows, and log in again. That should fix the problem.
