ibedonc and I have been working on putting together these kits for awhile and they are now available.
Yesterday I assembled mine and tested it overnight. While the wall wart I was driving the relay coils with died the circuit assembly worked flawlessly.
The circuit itself is well tested in a breadboard version I have used daily for well over a year now controlling my solar tracker and switching voltage sources for my data logging for my solar and wind power sources.
JimU originally came up with the circuit when we needed a method for switching sources to do data logging, so Don and I did not design the circuit we just pushed it to the next level.
Now is the chance for those of you who showed interest in these boards to get one.
Available next Monday [March 07 2005] in kit form:
An 8 channel relay driver with complete isolation of parallel port and relays.
Uses 8 10 amp 125 volt AC relay contacts with 12 volt coil rating. Will work for switching AC loads directly or selecting sources to read for data logging with RS232 serial port meters.
</pre>
The relays could easily be used to drive larger relays for uses such as progressive dump load switching at any power level.
Essentially you can control almost anything that uses a switch to turn on by replacing the switch with an appropriate relay driven from the board.
Here is a photo of a partially completed kit with everything but the opto isolators and relays installed.

The kits will cost $79.99 with all parts but no case, shipping included. Paypal, cashiers check or money order only.
