nice curved ceramics inside the motor

cleaning up my shop i noticed steel grinding debris stuck to the case of a 79 honda windshield wiper motor. two phillips screws and i'm looking at two nice little curved ceramic mags . are all wiper motors built this way? i wonder if it could be converted to produce power.

Rewound they might. I have seen those same mags in car heater fan motors. The only draw back that i seen is the fact that they have brushes. Just remember that almost anything is worth a try.

thanks for the reply, i've looked closer, some of the inner coils are kinda cooked.as you said the brushes  present a proplem. it might be possiple to do something with it but you've got to weigh the effort against possible output.i'm starting to discover there are a lot of ways to make power some are more worthwhile than other.

car blower motor instead? (3.00 / 0) (#3)

Well they probably have a worm gear drive...
car heater blower motors are better ...just turning them about 400 rpm would probably be fast enough to make a couple of volts...just think about it for a minute a prop just big enough to spin a motor fast enough in a 6mph wind to charge even a couple of AA rechargable
batteries.
Without even rewinding just stock ...

the physical size of these things is about right for what i've got in mind.  if the two curved mags were sliced up and then repositioned nsnsnsns it might make them more effective as a geni.

Try searching here for 'heater motor'.

I personally gave up.
