it was time for a field trip...

went to see George @ utterpower.com

i realized sometime ago that George lives very near to me, something less than a half hour anyway.

as i am firming up the design stage on my project, the lister diesel is being moved up on my want list.

so a call to George was in order, and i was invited over to chat, inspect and finally hear one of these glorious beasts run.

That was yesterday, and now i find i still cant get the sound of those engines out of my head, nor can i remove the grin from my face.

quite frankly i think just about every man on the planet would enjoy having one of these in the garage, just to sit, watch and listen to it operate, while sipping on a cold one.

it kind of satisfies a primal urge, i guess, sort of like sitting and pounding on a drum.

i found George to be most informative, very cordial, sincere and above all knowlegible in all that is listeroid, along with ST generator heads, and the changfa chinese diesels.

i purchased one of his CD's on listerlongevity, and have been reading it today. it is well worth all that is asked for it.

when it comes time for me to buy my engine, it will be from george at Utterpower.com

if you read this George, thanks again for you time.

I also have done some business with George and find him to be quit up front and a square guy to do business with. I got a Lister 25/2 from a dealer George deals with and while I've had a few teething problems getting the setup up and running, George has been there with any help I have needed.

Hi Bob,

I'm kind of interested in a Diesel that I could run on PPO (Pure Plant Oil) - a guy very near me processes this and sells it - mainly for diesel-->PPO vehicle conversions (using German ELSBETT conversion kits).  Anyway - I'm mostly interested in a Diesel that would happly run an low RPM and produce heat via water [I should say coolent] cooling for [house] heat & also power production as well as being quiet (at least I'm hoping that it would be quiet if it built into its own block shed and had a good excaust).

I think that I might be able to get a UK Lister CS diesel more easily than what you are after (a clone - I'm in Ireland) and I think that I was speaking to someone reciently about a single cylindar Lister - but they said it was air cooled!.

Can you tell me if the Lister [clone or whatever] that you were looking at is based on the popular CS design and did it have water cooling?

Thanks very much - and sorry that I don't know much at all about these engines - only what I've talked to people about.

Derek

check out George's site @

utterpower.com

lots of useful info, and yes there are direct and indirect injection models available, i believe the CS is an indirect injection version.

Hi Derek

Yes the clone that I have is based on the Lister CS. It's water cooled and will burn pretty much anything you can get the injectors to push. Plant oil should be fine. Check out Georges site and if you're going to go with one of these engines buy the CD he sell's. It's worth it.
