Opinions please

Has anyone tried to use something like this to make a wind power genny.Could this be mounted with a prop and if so what size prop would it take 8ft 0r 10ft.Maybe driven with a chain sprocket. If I could get just one tenth of its rated output,in my low wind situation it might surfice.Go ahead and break the bad news to me,I was going to break down and cry later today anyhow....Thank you for your help. This is it. I've considered one of these myself as a backup generator (using the tractor PTO or another engine) if not as a wind generator.

MelTx, Your looking at a monumental task, not impossible but not worth the trouble IMHO. Save your money for neo magnets and a welder.

50 foot diameter prop can produce  at 15 mph 10,125.00 watts - http://reresource.org/Formulas/Windpower_Calculator/

just a bit larger than 9 or 10 foot.

     Hi MelTx,
Have been looking at these units myself, as I have a diesel engine I want to put to work -- But I expect these may have to be spun at about 1800 rpm or perhaps more...
For wind mills, I haven,t seen anything better, than dual rotor mills and a carefull builder could assemble one for about the same cost as this unit!!
Windstuff, has a kit for $300 -- Do yourself a favor, and build one or buy one from the Dan,s...
Hate to burst your bubble, but -- "Been there, Done that", -- just read the forum for a while, and it,s easy to see, what works...
Wish you a good evening, Bill H.....
