last week i got a used lagunamatic cnc mill and a blade would make a perfect
first part out of it. does anyone have a DXF/solidworks or the TXT i could use.
any size blade up to 2'. i could do two seups per blade and make a
larger one.

only if you want to share.

Just out of curiosity:  Are those "XMT/RCV compatible"?

Does the mill have 2' travel? I can model a blade for you and save it as DFX or any other popular format you can use. Any TSR you are looking at?

yes, i have 5'' on the Z axis.

TSR? that would be nice. i am just looking

for something to start with to learn my

machine.

I have g-code files for small blades if that would help.  Rich

I have some blades I machined by CNC.  You are welcome to use the files if you wish.

wow, they look nice.

what did you model them after?

what size and how are they working?

Hi.  The blades are approx 500mm in length, each.  Giving a 1000mm rotor.
They were not modelled to any specific dimentions.  They are my first cnc machined set. They seem to work pretty well, although the wind turbine they are attached to, has very poor performance, mainly because the alternator is so useless.

There's a video of the blades running here:

I'm currently building another wind turbine.

yeah, that looks like a good first size.

nice work.

what rpm do you think you are getting out of them?

how big will MK2's be?

To be honest I'm not sure what rpm's I'm getting I had no way to measure it.  My DV cam is 25fps and on some of the video the blades appear still.  So I assume they are doing 25fps * 60 sec = 1500rpm.  In the video there's no alternator on the machine.  I was just testing the blades. The alternator slows the blades quite a lot.  On 12V charging it's probably too much. 24V seems much better.  I've abandoned this wind turbine. There's way too much wrong with the alternator.  I may re-use the blades for another machine one day.

The MK2 wind turbine will eventually have a 2 metre rotor. 1 Metre, each blade. I plan on machining them from foam in 3 sections, gluing the sections together, and then covering with glass cloth and resin.

At the minute I'm still winding the coils....... 3 more to go.  I hate winding coils.
Apart from that, I'm having fun.

Regards Terry.....

Would any of you be willing to sell me a couple blades? I will be the first one to admit that my woodshop skills are not up to par. I have tried several different approaches and just cant get my ducks in a row. It seems like you folks with CNC machines have a distinct advantage :)
