24 volt inverter

Can anyone recomend a 24 volt inverter 1000 to 1500 watt. I won't be tying into the grid, just going to use it for a few lights and a heater, maybe a small fridge this summer.  I would like to stay in the $200-$300 price range. Trying not to spend alot on my homebrew wind system.

Where are you, geographically speaking?  Just want to know if you're after a 120V or a 240V inverter.

I had good results from these guys a couple of years ago:

But it seems that they've gone out of the 24V inverter business (I bought a 24->230V model, and it arrived in Australia from Taiwan within a week!)

I've been considering those ones on Ebay that are stackable, which were just recently discussed here.  I like the idea that you can increase system size as needed.  The price wasn't bad either, if I recall.

 HI Windy,
     After going thru several of the light weight (Chinese) inverters -- i finally bought a Tripp lite PV2000FC -- this proved itself, to be a real heavy duty inverter and never let me down..
    That paticular one, was sold with my remote cabin and served me faithfully for three years -- powering table saws, compound miter saws and all types of heavy duty -- it,s still doing it,s job for the new owner..
    Just a few months ago, I bought another -- used on Ebay -- it is also a Tripp lite, but only 1250 watts (PV1250FC) this unit powered my home durring our recent power outages, due to several big storms !!
   It ran our 27" color TV and VCR, a couple of lights and our full sized refrigerator (when needed) It also provides power clean enough to run my computer and microwave oven...
    This one cost me $100 on Ebay, and I saw one 24 volt model on there recently for $290 -- I think that was a 2400 watt unit !!
BUT -- if you buy a Tripp lite, be sure it is the big square ones that weigh 25 pounds or more ( my 1250 weighs 23 pounds, and will put out 1800 watts for one hour)
   Tripp Lite also sells the light weight units --- don,t bother with them -- get the big heavy unit as you will only have to buy one , they are bullet proof !!

after having my main power inverter fail for a 3rd time, I wanted a backup...

I got an older 24v Trace U series 2000w (I think) with charger used from ebay for less than $300 including shipping. Several neighbors have been using these as their main power sources for years with zero problems.. they seem pretty bulletproof.

I can't speak for the quality of the newer inexpensive Chinese inverters, but I am one to always live by 'quality used is better than cheap new'. Maybe the New CHinese units are fine though.
