New Chip available to build a 200 Amp current Control

Allegro has a new chip that can sense current to 200 amps.
This chip would be ideal for control of high current solar or windmill loads.

thats a nice find.
at first i thought the tabs were to go around the wire , then i realized that you are supposed to solder your senser right in the main path of current.
wonder how much it is?

I have used this current sensor.

The Allegro current Sensor in small quantities cost around 6 to 8 dollars.

For the 200 Amps, 100 amps measurement represents 1 volt out.

For some design cases, this voltage may require amplification for other circuits to operate with the necessary parameters.

The Amplifier needs good reference USING the regulated 5 volts from the Allegro I.C.

It has a frequency limitation as 35 KHZ, though it should be used at around 20 - 25 Khz as a maximum, for easy use without a complicated frequency response design.

One problem is the soldering of the current sampler "rod".

We do Silver solder with a cooling pad on the i.c. epoxy plastic to reduce temperature effects and the soldering heater has a very fast temperature recovery time for fast.

The Rod is too short, unhappily, and they should have one with eyelets for easy mounting in some cases.

yeah they should have, at the very least, drilled a hole in each tab, they should have drilled and tapped a hole , and supplied the screws also..
