just saw these and thought I would pass it along

This fellow has 3 new, in the box, centrifugal water pumps a 1, 1 1/2, and a 2 hp that have been in storage somewhere that he started at .99 I don't know if a 58vdc pump would help most off grid folks but if you have a need to move a bunch of water you might check these transfer pumps out. This is the link for the 1 hp pump:

Before you go check they are pretty high rpm 2000+ so I doubt that they would make a good generator.

finis;

This looks like it should go in classifieds since it only points to an Ebay item, how did you decide it fit in the "wind" category? Just curious. They mention in the listing they were built for solar but no mention of wind is why I ask.

Cheers.

Opps sorry I thought I had posted it to water under remote living. Thanks for changing it. Next time I'll post anything for sale under classified. I didn't because I wasn't selling it.

Hmmm..
Looks like it would be a good small irrigation pump...  but a bit big for filling a person's household cistern.

If used as a gen....

You would probably have difficulties getting enough flow with say a small drop (3 ft (1 meter)or so).

But...  say, if you had a good mountain creek that you wanted to dam up and feed all or part into a large pipe (6", 8"???) then plunge 100 feet or so down the hill and reduce and feed into the pump/generator.....

I would imagine that one could get reasonable power generation.

I'd wonder about efficiency.  Of course, this is a very simple system based on equal water velocity on the inlet and outlet.  A turbine, on the other hand is far more complex, but has a high velocity inlet and a low velocity outlet, essentially absorbing all the energy in the system.

Of course, if you had a little bigger system, you could just feed your Giant by day and your Gen by night.
