good for windmills?

I have been saving up for this controller http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396671719& ;ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474396670271&bmUID=1154305940770&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444329 0319&assortment=primary&fromSearch=true for a while now and I just noticed that it doesn't have a dump load option. will it still be good for a windmill application?

No.

A solar charge controler disconnects when the high voltage limit is hit. Do that with a wind turbine and it will over speed and probably destroy itself.

The Xantrex C-35,40,60 controlers have a dump feature. There are probably schematics on this board for build-it-yourself.

I couldn't get the crappy tire link to work but I don't think they have what you need.Depending on what you have for a wind turbine what you need is a way to divert the excess power somewhere else when the batteries are full.I used a switch last year and found it a real pain in the arse.This year I'm going with a C-60 and a nice homebrew heater for a dump load-no more running out to the battery shack to shut the mill down when the batteries are full.Keep saving your money,a good charge controller will set you back less than 200 bucks on eBay.
