1hp dc motor

just finished and raised a 1hp dc motor gen 7ft rotor, she's turning a bit on light winds, but i'm waiting the 3 days till the real wind comes. I put a manual pull brake on this one, it seems to work good. will see what happens.

Looks very good. A few questions though:
  1. Do you know where the motor came from?
  2. How did you link the shaft to the blades?
  3. What voltage is your system?

it was an industrial dc motor, 90vdc, abouit 1890 rpms. no other specs. direct connected blades to shaft through an old cast pully. my system is 12vdc with a homebuilt controller.

if its anything like my 1.5hp dc treadmill motor --you should get at least 15 amps out of it in a good wind..[15amps when hooked to my exersize bike]..

Nope, no other pics, sorry. I built it and put it up in a sorta rush. just wanted to get it up and running. I may take it down and change or modify the blades depending on how it reacts. still no wind... day 2

iFRED

Looks great from here!

You mentioned that you put a manual pull brake on this mill. How is it constructed?
