The light weight question

we should have a contest

As Ed as shown with his 200 watt mill , a lot of weight can be shaved to produce a fun little windmill. we should have some sort of 3 month contest just for fun to say make a windmill that will produce 50 or 100 watts of power in say 15 to 20 mph wind.

See who can come in the lightest , I'll bet you would get some unique outfits from this board we would need some sort of guidlines, anyone interested? -Just a thought...

heres my motorhome mill-all wood[sawblade rotors][ceramic mags with neoes on top] -its survived 45-55mph winds so far-furls right up- not sure of the weight cant be much over 25-35 pounds--lights up 4 50w headlights in a good wind..its a 9 and 12 setup-with all six wires down the pole-for star or jerry rig...

Yes but is that wind at that level or do you put it up in the sky?

It's not been a powerhouse, but for a $35 mill what do you expect? 12/9 dual saw blades with 1/2" square X 1/4" thick neos, pipe fittings, & threaded rod. I've seen it push 2A at 12v in a good gust. It's obviously in a poor location (best output is winter when all the leaves are gone - hope to see 4A then) Weight is maybe 15 pounds.
