Quick Lenz2 question.

Quick Lenz2 question.

Hi everyone.

With reference to Ed Len'z turbine plans from his website (below)

http://www.windstuffnow.com/main/wing_dimensions_and_angle.JPG

The blade dimensions are calculated from the diameter, but from where exactly is the diameter measured ?

Is it from the outermost edge of the blade, or the inner edge where the horizontal line is drawn in the diagram ?

I have printed out that diagram and taken measurements from it to try and work it out, but that diagram isn't to scale, because neither of those measurements fit the picture.

I emailed Ed a few days ago to ask this same question, but I have had no reply as yet.

Dave.

Igor, I sure can't speak from experience or for Ed, for that matter, but I would take it that the diameter would come from the outermost edge. The inner horizontal is a reference line for attack angle.

 Also, Ed posted this

in a another thread a few days ago, which is very helpful. Thanks Ed!

  Hi Dave,
I did send you a reply but it bounced as undeliverable.  It is the outermost of the diameter and the page dissaray posted again should clear up the confusion.

I think the early venturi model ( actually the L1 ) dimensions are a bit confusing on my site and I'll have to make it a bit clearer as to the differences between the two.  Both are good running.
Have Fun! Windstuff Ed

Hi Dave:

I have looked at your turbines as well... Comparing the two designs, inner triangle, no inner triangle, have you noticed a measurable difference in efficiency between the two, particularly at lower wind speeds..??..

Thanks...

.....Bill

Thanks Guys.

That's cleared that one up then. I assumed it would be the outer diameter, but when I did a scale drawing of what I had planned, it looked wrong compared to that drawing, so I just wanted to be certain before I go any further.

Thanks again. - Dave.
