If you look at all the links in the steam postings archive, there's a guy in there somewhere with a one-cylinder steam bicycle (on the British steam hobby site).
In this link it "looks like" he took a vertical two-cylinder motorcycle engine (using the very hard to make parts, pistons, crank, con rods, etc..) and fabricated the rest.

All standard warnings apply when experimenting with steam: a 300F steam leak creates a horrible flesh burn, and a poorly designed steam engine without a proper relief valve can explode causing serious injury and death.
Any one interested in building a steam-powered PMA as a back-up generator because you may have access to free wood, I recommend looking for an antique that was designed by a professional (just like Dan's steam PMA)
