Electrical Wire in TowerElectrical

Electrical

What type of wiring is best to run down the tower; no slip ring design?   So far the heaviest extension cord I've located has three 10 AWG wires.  It can handle the load of the machine I'm building.  However, losses are significant.  No. 6 Welding cable sounds like a good idea (flexible, UV and oil resistance) although pricy.

I'm starting to scourge around for some tower wire.   It appears to be a critical part of the system and should be considered when matching the blade to the alternator.

Thanks,

Boondocker

Boondocker,

Many of us here failed to renew our clarvoyancy licenses. The government was going to require fingerprints and social security numbers - Imagine that!

So, if you would be so kind as to provide a few details ... maybe someone could help.

Fine stranded wire (like welding cable) is best, but just use what you can get, (as long as it isn't solid wire) sized as big as you are willing to pay for.

Try these 3 outfits on for size Boondocker.
Word is that Maney has some of the best welding cable prices.

Thank you for the suggestions, and links.

The mill will be 3 phase rectified to a 24 volt battery bank, with an eight foot prop.  The distance from the alternator to battery is going to be approximately 100 feet.
