Is there life after burn-out.

There seems to be a bit of interest in lights these winter days so here are a few ideas I have tried.

This light came from an old stove and it is wired to and 13 watt electronic type of ballast. The old pig tail light bulb had one of its heaters burned out.

Close up. The stove tube has two good heaters and there are lots of these type of bulbs around.

Next is the pig tail that was burned. Don't throw it out yet. As you can see it has been hooked to a 24 volt scanner CFL supply. I have found that these scanners have different supply voltages and I start to test them at 5 volts and work up from there.

What you can see here is a U type of bulb that will not work with it ballast. The other bulb came from a camping light that the electronics fried. How much to replace the U type bulb? TOO MUCH. My solution...

Its not pretty but it now hangs above my work bench.

This light works at 12 volt. In the back-ground you can see belts from scanners and printers.

The pig tail light that was burned is now working again. Good light and low wattage.

Here the 25 watt lamp working fine at 13 watts.

This is a way to save lots of power. Remove all the old 80 watt tubes and replace with 11,13 or 23 watt bulbs. Take down the grid one bulb at a time. Bill
