Chopped fibreglass for staror/rotors

idea.

I have had an idea for putting chopped fibreglass into the resin mixes for the stator and rotor.

Put sheets of the fibreglass material into a paper cross shreddder and you get a fine size of 'chopped' stuff'. Just to make things a bit quicker.

If someone has already posted this idea, then apologies for posting again.

Marco.

Just don't get caught by whoever owns that shredder, else you may have your @$$ in a sling! You are aware that fiberglass mat is held together by an adhesive binder that is designed to break down in polyester and vinyl ester resins, yes?

Hi

Epoxy suppliers will supply fibreglass mat without the adhesive binder, for use with epoxy. I don't know much about wind power, but I've done a lot of epoxy work on boats.

This is what I used in my stator, I'm not sure its proper, but I think i'ts along the lines of what you are thinking about. The site I found it on is called masepoxies.com. Under products click "fillers" and scroll down to "milled fibers".
I would have posted a link but I have no idea how to,lol.
