? almost sounds newbie.

Hi Ed.

Question about the stator pictured with your 34" plastic blades on your web page?

The Coils seem to come to a much sharper point then do the wedge magnets? It apears that the wege magnets stay within the coil leggs at the outside of the disc and stator but at the bottom or inside of the magnet wedge the coils apear as though the magnet may be above both coil leggs at the same time?

Or is my vision just slightly off?

While on the subject of these blades. What is the preset root angle? For 34"s tip to tip, do you use a 6" blade mounting disc?

Thanks Ed, just curius.

Hi Jerry,
Your talking about the oddball alternator with 6 poles and 9 coils?  This one...

No it's not your vision, they are packed in a little tighter than they should be because of the small diameter and large magnets.  There is a bit of overlapping/canceling going on there but for the most part it worked out quite well.  It might actually do just as well, or possibly better with a 4/3 combo although using the same wire the resistance would be higher.  I think those blades will run an 8" diameter air core stator without any problem.   The 6 inch that's shown really packs everything in place.

The blades are mounted using the tabs on the blades which gives them a 10 degree angle.  I used a plywood disc to mount the blades then bolted the assembly to the magnet disc.

One of those super quick, fun projects.
Have Fun! Windstuff Ed
