Jacking Screws

.

I'm trying to get the concept of the "Jacking Screws",...

Obviously you can't lower the rotor by hand to the semi determined gap,
the rotors would slam together,...and once your at about a 2" gap you can't
get a wrench in there to adjust height due to magnetic field,...your wrench would get stuck alot.

so do you have the hub nuts welded and the jacking screws are longer with 2 nuts so you can raise and lower it?

Having a hard time getting the picture in my head.

Thx

If the holes for the jacking screws are threaded in the outer rotor , theres no need for nuts on the jacking screws

Ok i think i get the pic now,....the screws for the rotor are a separate issue,...you have 3 extra holes in the same diameter threaded or with a nut welded on the bottom,...those 3 longer "jack screws" only job is to lift and lower top rotor, once adjusted they are removed and the remaining screws are bolted down.

Hows that?

Thx

RP;

On the older style "Volvo" setups they used nuts on the inside of the rotor on the threaded rod and a bent wrench that could reach in thru the center hole in the rotors' "hat". That is a bit less than easy but was how it was done then. Now, with the trailer hubs and solid rotors the center hole is no longer there so jacking screws seem to be the norm.

BTW, I have never built one but have assembled and disassembled the Volvo rotor style one I got from DanB multiple times.

Cheers.

make a wrench out of copper, or stainless steel
that is what I use,
You can use a rod of like metal to turn the nuts
when holding the rotor up with jacking bolts.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++ DastardlyDan . This is only a test, had it been the real thing , you would have got instructions.
