Yes it's a big Sturmey Archer cycle dynamo.

May have some large scale applications but for small wind power it's not going anywhere. A pig to build, cogging problems and a high leakage reactance, I see they are looking at a force commutated rectifier. It would need a converter to keep the load current low, it would run away with direct rectifier connected to a battery and give severe control problems.

Better kept for stepper motors although some people insist on trying to use them as alternators.
