Well, I read that post "Why I hate electricity" and what reaction did you expect from a forum with the tag line "Make your electricity from scratch"? It served no purpose beyond whining about something nobody has control over.

I am sorry nobody was interested enough to comment on your pond pump/stirrer Diary until after you complained about it in the rant, but it is not really surprising because verticals have been in use pumping water for a long time.

Leaving because of it is your choice, of course.

(And I was really annoyed when the stuff on air-powered cars was dumped, twice, on the incorrect claim that it was overunity.  Yes, some of the proposals WERE overunity.  But others were not.  We had a good discussion going which got killed, about a genuine windpower application, and I'd wanted to continue it.)

But the site is not a public utility.  It's owned and run by those who own and run it.  If they don't want their ball used to play a particular game it's their right to take it and go home.

My reaction:
 - When I thought the admins were doing the right thing, just go on as before.
 - When I thought they were doing the wrong thing (with respect to what they intended the site to be), go do other stuff until I felt inspired to contribute again.  (Took about a week on the car thing if I recall before I was fully engaged.)

If it happens too often I'll probably find something else to be interested in.  Meanwhile I'll probably hang around.

Think of how many times you've been on another forum that the admins don't really care, and had to weed through tons of irrelevant BS to get to what you are trying to ultimately find out. Its frustrating. I don't necessarily agree with deleting something that is not explicitly offensive, and just off-topic, so long as its just here or there, but alas, none of us make the rules. The admins do. It is what it is.

I look at it like this - If you got mad and quit experimenting every time you got 'denied' trying to break a law of physics, you wouldn't last long as an experimenter. We all do it, and with the possible exception of the over unity crowds (?), it's usually unwittingly, but we still do it, none the less. Nothing in the world is perfect, there are flaws everywhere. This would be no exception.

According to what I am gathering, the answer is simple: If you put it in a diary, you can say (almost) anything you want, about (again, almost) anything you want, at any time. If you put it in a normal post, in, say 'wind', and the contents of the message reveal that you are in the midst of a gripe about world peace, it pretty much makes sense that it gets deleted. Put it in a diary, and as long as you aren't threatening people or something equally disturbing, it will probably just be ignored, worst case.

Anybody, please correct me if I'm wrong here. If I'm right, then Stonebrain, you have your solution, and the admins are happy and will leave it alone, and we can all get back to everyday life, you know, making mistakes! ;)
