Are you attracted to magnets like me?

Dear Abby,
I went to a liquidation place and found these magnets for ten cents a magnet. So I bought 50 of them. Has anyone tried to use similar for a genny. The are a toy called zingers, don't think they caught on. Real strong and made of a glass smooth material.

They are ~ (2"or 50mm) in length. I don't know if they will work but I just had to have them.
Is there any help for me Joseph.

Joseph;

I am afraid there is no help for you.

How are these magnets polarized?

That will determine if there is a way to utilize them.

But, for a dime a pop I woulda got 100 just for the novelty.

Should be fun, regardless.

Tom, that really hurts. I was kicking myself for not grabbing 100.
They are polarized through the width. I connected 50 in a line and can pick up the 50 by the end two. I will have to find a way to hold them into a rotor design, and stop them from rotating. Will keep ya all informed.
Joseph.

Watching you try to get those mounted and equally spaced on a metal backing plate would definitely be worth the price of admission :)

A Friend of mine had 2 of them (yes i have friends)
you take one in each hand and throw them up into the air at the same time
The magnetism attracts them together and when the connect they become "Zingers"
That is the noise they make . . .

Looks perfect for farmers.

Farmers?

People who raise livestock sometimes discover that their animal has ingested a metallic object like a screw, bolt or piece of wire.  So they feed a magnet to the animal.  Once the metallic bit clings to the magnet, it gives the alimentary canal some push to get the thing out.

This is not without risk, either.  The magnet can cling to the object in one fold of the intestine, while it is actually in another that is adjacent.  This can cause bowel rupture - but the animal is likely to have a bowel rupture with the hardware inside anyway.

Ah, the 1001 uses for magnets...
