Jacobs variable pitch

Anyone have any pics or links?

Hello guys, I have been looking for the Jacobs variable pitch mechanisim that works with the weights. I can seem to find lots about the spring type governors, but very little about the flyball??type.
Just wondering if anyone had any info, thanks as always,

Thanks guys, I was thinking of making something similar, but using one ring gear and 3 pinion gears fron a quarter ton rearend. Is there any way to even come close to determining how much weight and mechanical advantage one needs to handle the blades? I was thinking of spinning the whole assembly in the lathe to watch it work, but how will having the blades attached affect how it works?

You can basically calculate the operating speed from the mass of the weights and the spring rate. Force on the revolving mass is m.r.(omega^2)

You can run the hub in a lathe. The blades will have some effect unless they rotate about the centre of pressure. How much effect this will have depends on the relative forces acting to twist the blade compared with the spring preload.

You get best control with lots of spring preload and heavy weights but there can be some compromise to keep the weight to reasonable proportions.

Similarly the more friction ( maybe more accurate to say stiction)you have the greater mass and preload you need.
