Earth Quake

Hello ALL;
Just a quick note to say, "its not the end of the world as we know it":-)
5.2 & 4.6, only barely made water wiggle in glass. Did shake our Brick home.
HF PVs report no problems , other than more rain :-(

Cheers

Hi Old F
Funny you would say that. I do remember that one too, was a little kid back than and in a 3rd floor room.
Our current house is solid brick, not Z-brick on wood but 3 different types of good ole St. Louis clay type brick, and when it shook it was interesting.
We had yet another this early AM another 4.5r.

You're right about the media though, some spar-concrete fell off an 80 year old Viaduct bridge, and it is still showing up on the news:-)

Cheers
Bruce S

Kind of interesting to hear about an earthquake in that location

I would have expected it to be more south like the New Madrid fault

The report I saw said it was the Wabash fault, which is a northern extension of the New Madrid fault.  When an earthquake occurs in one part of a fault system it causes stresses to increase in other parts of the fault system.  Something to think about.

My parents are in the St. Louis area visiting.
My Dad slept through it.  Nobody else did!

I was actually awake lying in bed when the quake struck.  Felt like somebody climbed on the bed or something, kind of startled me a bit, not very severe here in Chicago though, it kind of reminded me of the last one I recall here in about 1986 or so.  I wasn't sure exactly what it was at first, though maybe an upstairs tenant had jumped up and down or something, or something had happened in the neighborhood, I didn't realize it was a tremor at the time.  I am sure it was a lot stronger south of here.  Rich

Acually got what seemed to be two shocks here, with the second one being a bit stronger than the first. Noise was like long drawn out thunder. No damage, and I looked. I have a rock foundation that probably wouldn't stand up to a strong quake.

They're even still going on , been something like 15 + since the biggie of '08.

Will be fun to watch/listen to how the media ,builds this one up:-)

Here we go!!

I'm used to the wind shaking my trailer here and didn't even notice any quake, but the cat jumped about four feet straight up in the air and took off running for no reason about 10 or so in the morning 8^P
