Coil heat ? I didn't answer.

Hi Parat8.

Got busy and didn't answer your question from March 21st.

Your building a 10 ft dual rotor as I recal?

You might check some of my older diarys. I did a bunch of testing and found Jerry Riging to run much coller then star.

I'll be doing more of that testing this sommer I hope?

Hows your project comming?

Im not convinced the issue was really settled Jerry...  my take on it all, it's difficult to get exactly equiv. stators (I think yours were close but not quite) and...  it depends a great deal on wave form.  If the wave form is 'strange' then I can imagine Jerry rigging would be more efficient.  If you have a very good sine wave I expect Star might win slightly.  Other considerations include having lots of rectifiers at the tower top...

Nice to see you back around!

Hi DanB

Thanks for the wecome back. Dan heres a heads up for you. MY wife and I may be in your town mid August to late September.

My son is a big-wig Intel engenier there. I'd like to bring him out to OP HQ to meet you and the crew.

I know I injoyed or visit several years back. At that time my son lived in Collorado Springs.

About the heat. I'm still building the 4ft Hugh Piggot alt as close to his design as posable. The diferance will be, I will wind the coils with wire half the cirular mills but 2 in hand.

All coil ends will be available to configure the alt 100% pure Hugh Piggot star or Jerry Rigged.

This should give good conclusive answers to the questions of heat, prim mover power requiered, rpm preformance and such.

If one is better or worse this arangment should show the diferance if any.

Jerry/Dan B my 4 foot that I sold last year was "Jerry Rigged" & it got pushed to it's limit many times , When I took it apart there was no signs of any heat damage.

My 11 foot wired star had major burn area's in the stator it is almost reworked as "Jerry Rigged" ,I will post results when it is finished.

Lots of wind lately & all mine are down :-(

Hi Devo.

This will be intresting to follow.

If I hadn't had my set back I would have had several dual rotor machines heat tested by now.

But It could have been much worse. The great support this group offers makes it much easyer to dust yourself off, pick yourself up, and get back to it.
