| I've been collecting garbage disposals for 5 years now.
I've noticed alot of newbies lately buying $5 fans/motors with hope to build a small wind generator and hope to learn something in the prosses. This will make that goal easyer.
The buityfull things about the garbage disposal motor, they are free, they can actully make a few hundred watts, you can get most of the conversion parts a the big box home improvement stores, only hand tools are required for a biginers level unit, you can carve or make PVC blades, bearings and shafts easy to get and biuld.
The stators are very easy to slide out of the motor cans. Since these motors are built for very short duty cycle use, they are built very loose and easy to modify for 12v or 24 volt use.
I have hundreds motor cans with stators ready for conversion. I don't use any of these below 1/2hp, even though I seen several hundred watts from these.
If you want one just pay the shipping and I'll send it to you.
For you Newbies this is a better motor to learn on then the motor that most newbies are asking about.
These motors are wound with aluminum coils. So theres no copper valiue to me and I could use the room and hopefully this will help a newby learn something. You can use $1.50 magnets from Lowes and make 50 watts or get some good magnets from our housts and make a couple hundred watts.
I have stories posted here on how to make end caps and wire things up. After this unit is completed it becomes a 2 phase PMA suitable for 4 ft blades.
