golf cart motor first timer

I can get a 3 hrspwer dc golf cart motor for $50 bucks. Will that work for a wind turbine?  I will be asking lots of questions. All help appreciated. Thank you.

I think it will work but it's probably shunt wound and will need power to the fields.

On second thought I don't think the standard club car or Yamaha motor would do well at all .You would have to hit a high rpm to see any voltage and the fields are huge.
