20W solar and small mill repeared.

Hello,

Added small monocristal solar panel, capable of 1A 12V charging batteries.

You can see also from this picture repaired small windmill and cables going from garage to house.

Finally 2 windmills working again, smaller mill magnets hit the stator in big storm at winter, because one screw unwind.

When I was lifting up this small windmill I heared a shot from wood. (It is on other side, You can see only shadows on My old pictures.)
Wondering who is this crazy shooting so close to My house.
And it is not hunting season. Back in garage, I giscovered burning smell.
It was cordless drill accu explosion happened:

I have to make some regulator for cordless drill accu charger too.
I didn't realize this old transmitter voltage converter 12-24V can do this.
It was capable only 2.5A output.
Worked OK for 18V accu chargig till this.

I have made 2 regulators for big batteries. And they working good.
Instructions from this forum.

I have this thing, working up to 10000 volts.
Amazingly working even on 12v windmill, can measure alternative current Amperes up to 600.

That's not all.
More news coming soon.

Well done on the new solar: I'm so tempted to fiddle with mine the whole time, but every time I do the sums and remind myself that even the smallest off-grid addition would require an upgraded controller and battery, I remind myself not yet... B^>

Bad news with the drill.  Good job you were some distance from it when it went bang!

Looks like your indeed having a good off grid experience . I think every one should enjoy such Independence as a right of passage . The smurf count would decrease and the intelligence level would increase . Good luck and happy hunting.

That's the reason why I chose overkill when I bought my controllers..
Way too many times in the past I bought just what I needed, and then needed more, and my wallet doesn't like that too much ;)

Good Job !!

Even tho it's only 12 watts, you will notice a lot more power with your setup.

I'll second that.

Ever since my solar panel went up, the windturbine has been largely redundant.  I'm getting so much power that I'm dumping it nearly all the time.  I've even seen a few milliamps of charge in moonlight!

That's a rather impressive cordless drill battery failure there.  Nice with both solar and wind, more redundancy in power sources.  Rich

margus;
Where are you located? If you're in the USA, and good with soldering , I can ship you a few NiCd sub-c to rebuild that drill pack.
NTL did it quite a bit and seemd to work well.

Send me a private email with shipping info and I'll see what I can do.

Cheers and congrats on the setup!!

Hi,

Bruce S don't worry about spare accu elements. I have lot of them.
I bought them as used and they are not in best shape. They cost about 3$ accu+cordless drill, some don't work at all.
I have to change broken elements. I know soldering them is not the easiest thing that's why they are welded.

One more picture.

And this amazing monster shows alternative curret, but not correct reading.
There can't be more than 2A but it shows 8A.
Probably frecuency is too high. Designed for 50HZ.

Here in Northen Europe prices of solar panels are too high. I have to wait some Years till prices fall.
