Are you still using ester vinyl resin to mold the stator up?
Thanks,
Harlon
I am in the middle of constructing a low power PMG and having worked with polyester/Glass matting for over ten years in the marine industry, that is what I intend to use. I might add an innert filler to bulk it up a bit. Talc or an aerosil, the main thing is to retard the curing time by keeping the MEKP hardener to an absolute minimum for the prevailing temperature, 2 - 5% and pour slowly to reduce the chance of air voids. You should have at least 20 mins working time.
Once it starts to cure keep an eye on the first mix if you are not used to using polyester resin to make sure it does not go exothermic. Once it starts to cure you can spray it with water if it does start to heat up, but it must be absolutly dry and free of even damp while a wet mix.
To clean the utensils cheap celulose thinners or gun wash (for cleaning spray guns)does an exelelent job.
Good luck..
Thanks for the your reply. I do not know what it all means! I will do some reading on the subject. I will figure it out, I hope it is before I screw something up and have to start over.
I have learned how NOT to do a lot of stuff that way.
This has been fun so far, for me anyway my wife is not so sure. She is saying I am becoming obsessed with THAT THING.

A quote off their website: Vinyl Ester resin is superior in every property as compared to all polyester resins. This product is used in high performance applications in which high-strength and maximum heat tolerance is necessary. This resin is extremely chemical resistant when cured. Similar in strength to epoxies with much increased stiffness.[ Parent ]
