Too good to be true?

Found on craigslist: Solar Electric Panels - NEW 70 Watt Modules @$2.84/Watt!

I poked around and on some other board this same person has them listed as being Kyocera panels but I can't find any reference to Kyocera making thin film yet, maybe he means Kaneka?

Anybody think this is a good or bad deal?
Thanks!

2.84 a watt Thats cheap!
Harbor freight anywhere from

I wonder if it's a typo or a hoax

I have the HF kit, it's worked fine for me but the "45 watts" of panels has never gone over 29W, maybe even that's doing well?
Anyway, yeah it is cheap, I live about 3 hours from San Jose where the panels are and a friend of mine goes down there all the time, if I get serious about it I'll have him go check it out.

Thats all I got on an that link, :)

Anyway with the kanekas thin film panels, I have 14 of them on my roof and for near 5 years they have been the mainstay of our house array . What I have is a AERL 900B MTTP hooked up to them and the voltage in is arond 120 volts thevoltage out is 24 volts at around 4 times the current. From my knowledge of them they are high voltage panels designed for grid tie but I got my system matched for a 24 volt system. Just be aware if they are the high voltagepanels that are similar to mine you'll need a sparkie as anything above 48 volts needs a certified tradesman.

Kyocera made thin film panels for quite a while.

"Yet" could be replaced with "formerly tried it, and don't do it any more"?

I got more info, they are actually:

"Modules are BP 970 L a discontinued line and without warranty. They work great, are brand new and from a great company. We have 2 cases left."

A quick Google search shows BP Solar had a thin film factory close to here and shut it down.
