This has made a BIG Difference, Hope it may help others.

[editor's note, by DanG] I sat and watched 2200kb of large pictures display line-by-line on dial-up connection & then had images resized in less time than it took to download... 2572px × 1928px is unacceptable, please find the time to reduce images next time. Nice Work!

Yes, having a bearing in the yaw assembly does help big time. The only thing I have to say about your arrangement, is that the bearing you chose is not really suited as a thrust bearing. Most of the force (when the tower is raised) will be in a downward direction, perpendicular to the way the bearing is positioned (or supposed to be loaded). This might lead to premature bearing failure down the road, but time will tell. Im sure it will be fine, but keep your eye on it. It would be best to use a tapered roller, or a throw out (clutch) bearing. Something that was meant to take a little more vertical force in that orientation.

Looks good though  :-)

That will be fine, after putting it up I figured out how to make them smaller, sorry about that.

I also used a bearing on the top of my generator. It's been up for about a year. It is much more responsive in light winds. My bearing is a used regular ball bearing I had on hand. I figured if mine fails, the genny will slide down the spud until it reaches the tower and stop there. Be sure the blades can't get into the guy wires if it does fail! OUCH!!!

However,I DO have to agree with Roy about the tapered bearing vs ball bearing. That's the best.

BTW, nice work!
