Auto-shutdown for wind turbines is now available

Define 'triggers', allow automatic/manual/remote turbine shutdown/restart.

All,

In an effort to keep PowerDashboard the most complete monitoring/logging solution, the latest version of PowerDashboard 2.1.0.0 has been released. This software works with the Xantrex XW series of equipment, in conjunction with an inexpensive/off-the-shelf DataQ A/D controller.

The newest functionality incorporates definition of 'triggers' to affect an automatic shutdown of a wind turbine. Currently up to 9 triggers can be defined.

These triggers can be based on:

    Wind speed
    Battery Voltage
    Turbine RPM
    Turbine Amps
    Turbine Watts
    Loss of Grid
    Event duration

Trigger definitions can use one or any combination of the available parameters, so you can get as simple or complicated as you desire. The free remote access software on my website (PDSmartClientPro) has the ability to remotely initiate a shutdown or restart, this ability is also available as a menu option on PowerDashboard as well.

Additional information can be gotten Here

This is basically an advertisement.

Yes, it is and I will be moving it to classifieds after I post this. I thought of that when I first saw it but with 2 of us reaching the same conclusion I think it is not just me.

Or he could pop it into a Diary.

Maybe after his rest after completing his successful work upgrading the forum ADMIN will start doing some much needed tweaking of section descriptions, post guidelines, etc. That would go a long ways towards clarifying a lot of these where to post what concerns.

Brokengun,

I am an active member of Fieldlines and have been for a number of years, and have developed this software over the last 12 months.  In addition I have built my own 17' axial flux wind turbine and post info on it as well.

Occasionally I post relevant items, such as this ability to automatically shut down turbine to let people know that I am staying ontop of logging/monitoring software systems.

I worked with Gurd earlier in the year to help develop a stand alone circuit that can automatically shut down a wind turbine based solely on battery voltage, but always wanted the ability to provide more parameters, and so eventually added this capability into my software.

If my post offended you - I'm sorry.

Tom sorry if I put into the wrong category.

It is confusing ... (3.00 / 0) (#4)
by TomW on Mon Oct 12, 2009 at 06:16:36 AM MST

Dan;

No worries.

Had you not been an active member it would likely have not survived at all.

I know it is confusing where to post things. It is for me.

On this kind of ongoing project the best place is probably a Diary.

No offense taken or intended from me. My only complaint is you didn't have an Outback inverter so I don't get software to try on mine!

As I said earlier, hopefully ADMIN will be able to address some of these issues WRT ambiguous section descriptions, post guidelines and general usage information soon.

Who is this ADMIN you speak of?

Way I understand it this forum is hosted by a company that has financial interests in making the board work?
